Laura Ling is an American journalist whose YouTube Channel, Seeker Stories, brings viewers on a journey all around the world to take a “deep look at some of the world’s most unique individuals, places, and cultures.” This includes an interview with former professional snowboarder Mike Basich about his truly incredible tiny house.

Mike had everything most people could dream of. He made $170,000 a year and he had a 4,000-sq.-ft. house and an expensive car. He even had the opportunity to travel all around the world. Despite his abundance of blessings, he longed for a much simpler life.

Fans of the Tiny House Movement all insist that living a life free from the burden of things they don’t need helps them find true happiness — just ask the owner of this 186-sq.-ft. Vancouver tiny house.

After hundreds of competitions that brought fortune and fame, Mike decided to rediscover the reason he fell in love with snowboarding to begin with. He moved to a 225-sq.-ft. tiny house with no electricity or running water, but he has 40 acres in snow-covered Soda Springs, CA that he can call his own.

I have never really thought that tiny house-living was for me, but once I saw those views around the 4:15 mark, I reconsidered. It’s incredible!

When Michelle Hamill and her husband Dan learned that she was pregnant with twins, they were flooded with a range of emotions. Of course, they were delighted, but they were also overcome with fear. You see, Michelle and Dan are little people, and because of this, they had to worry about pregnancy risks that larger people don’t even have to think about.

Michelle and Dan had to come to terms with the fact that because they carried the dwarfism gene, they had a high chance of transmitting the trait to their kids as well. Of course, there’s nothing at all wrong with being different, just like this baby who looks nothing like her parents, but if the babies inherited the gene from both parents instead of just one, there was the possibility that they wouldn’t live very long after birth. To complicate matters further, Michelle developed a health problem that put the twins at risk while they were still developing in the womb. But luckily, a miracle happened, and both babies turned out to be perfectly healthy. And they’re little, just like their mom and dad!

Having twins carries way more risk than carrying just one baby, but just like these parents whose baby came back to life after seemingly being born dead, Dan and Michelle were lucky enough to have not just one, but two healthy, beautiful children. It’s incredible to see such amazing people beat the odds to have such a lovely family.

Sarah Pippin is a mere 13 years old. After you watch this video, I’m sure you’ll be wondering how someone whose only been on Earth for such a brief time moves like such an experienced pro.

The dancing pair Duo Osmose has got some incredible moves and choreography — but they’re adults. Even the women of 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, while they appear tiny, are adults. I’d like to know how much training goes into a pre-teen’s life for her to be able to move like this. How does greatness like this come to fruition? Is it mostly natural ability? Is it waking up at the crack of dawn before school? We many not have the answers, but I am glad such greatness exists, because watching Sarah’s performance definitely brought me a lot of joy today.

During the 2011 New York City Dance Alliance National Junior Gala, Sarah wowed the judges with her amazing routine, called the “Blackhawk Waltz,” which was choreographed by Travis Hall. With this winning routine, Sarah walked away with the award for “Female Outstanding Dancer” — and I can totally see why.

It’s hard to talk about what makes this routine incredible without totally giving it away, but what happens at 1:48 is so unexpected. Sarah moves so gracefully and precisely that you’d think you were watching regular old ballet, but then it happens and I basically wanted to give Sarah a standing ovation from my computer desk right then and there.

I didn’t even know people’s torsos could move like that!

Belly dancing is a beautiful art that originated in the Middle East and has been practiced around the world for hundreds of years. It requires extreme control and strength in your torso, and becoming truly great at it takes years of hard work. Spanish dancer Sara Guirado has certainly thrown her heart into becoming an amazing performer, and when you see her move, you’ll agree that it was worth it.

We’ve featured similar dancers before, such as this woman who performs her routine with her dog. But belly dancers like Sara are a very rare find indeed. Each movement is performed with incredible precision and finesse. She’s been dancing since she was very young, just like this ridiculously talented little girl, and now she owns her own school in Valencia. Although she makes it look so easy, her art is anything but simple. Pulling off such exact movements requires incredible core strength, and being able to move one half of your torso while the other half remains completely still is nearly impossible if you haven’t been trained to do it. Go ahead and try it if you don’t believe me!

If you ever want to get a great workout while learning a super-sexy dance, check out local belly dance schools near you. It’s becoming more and more popular every year, and academies are popping up everywhere. If you really want to learn from a master, though, you might want to start thinking about booking a trip to Spain.

The Inca girl known as “The Maiden” was only 15 years old when she died. Her frozen, entombed body was found in 1999 on an Argentinian volcano. The body, as you’ll see, is perfectly preserved, though she died around 500 years ago.

The last time I was shocked by a “frozen woman” story, we introduced you to Jean Hilliard, who walked away completely unscathed after collapsing in the snow for six mysterious hours. The Maiden’s tale, however, ends much differently than Jean’s…

Here’s how the story goes: The young girl was apparently chosen by the Inca people as a sacrifice to their gods, for which children were taken to the high mountain tops, fed coca leaves on the way, and then given an intoxicating drink at the burial site. When they where intoxicated, the Inca priests would kill them, or leave them to freeze to death.

Recently, scientists discovered coca lumps for chewing in between her teeth, suggesting she was in fact sedated when she died. The Maiden also had a bacterial infection similar to tuberculosis when she died. They think that the discovery of this bacteria could potentially help fight new or reemerging illnesses. So even though this poor girl died 500 years ago, her sacrifice could help to cure some diseases affecting people today. How truly fascinating is this?!

Didja is one of the most talented cats out there in the world today. She has garnered a huge following of over 92,000 YouTube subscribers, and several of her videos have surpassed the million-view mark. The young cat can already do incredible tricks: she can use a human toilet, she can sit, she can roll over, she’s comfortable on a leash, and her newest learned talent is probably the craziest — she can now skateboard!

Didja’s loving owner and trainer Robert Dollwet has specialized in training animals for the past 30 years, and Didja is certainly his most amazing masterpiece.

In this newest video of Didja, we can see her doing some crazy tricks. She ollies, she goes uphill and downhill, and she even jumps off the board to jump over an obstacle while the skateboard is in motion!

While there are a few clever editing tricks used in the video, Didja is still clearly a very impressive cat — she certainly has more balance than I do on one of those things!

Thanks to a bionic eye and the doctors at the Mayo Clinic, a 68-year-old Minnesota man was finally able to see his wife of 45 years for the first time in 10 years. The device was implanted in Allen Zderad, and it’s called the “Second Sight Argus II” retinal prosthesis system.

The emotional moment was caught on video, as Allen talks himself through what he’s seeing the moment it happens. When his loving wife, Carmen, walks past his line of vision, Allen perceives the motion. It leaves everyone in the room in a mess of tears.

For 20 years, Allen has suffered with a genetic degenerative eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa. His new implant represents hope for his entire family, as his 13-year-old grandson has also inherited the condition.

This is such incredible technology. Bravo to the scientists who worked their tails off to make this moment happen. Please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook and give them a reason to smile today!

The breathtaking Niagara Falls aren’t the highest falls in the world, but they’re exceptionally wide. And powerful! On average, more than four million cubic feet of water flows from the crest line every minute.

However, due to the extra frosty chill we’re experiencing in the northeastern United States, Niagara Falls has been seeing significantly less water flow.

    Why?

Because some parts of the falls have actually frozen over!

It’s surprisingly quite lovely. The ice-covered falls look fanciful, like jagged, glacier-dripped icicles gorgeous enough to adorn the palace of any ice queen.

And the sense of whimsy these frozen falls emit inspired one adventurer, Will Gadd, to climb them. That’s right, we’ve heard of people going down these falls in barrels, but never someone climbing up them! That’s because no one had ever attempted it before.

Snow-climber Gadd, who is a triple gold medalist at the X Games, felt he was well-suited for the challenge…and he is!

Watch him make history as the first person to climb the falls in the video below, which is quite a sight to see. Just imagine it! It’s like man vs. nature as he climbs up a frozen waterfall while feeling the strength of gushing water from other falls beside him. Imagine how small he must have felt. How cold. And how satisfying it must have been to reach the top.

Please SHARE this beautiful feat with everyone you know to help them realize that with skill and determination you can accomplish almost anything!

Harrison Craig has been the victim of bullying at school for his entire life, all because he stutters when he speaks. Despite his peers’ unmerciful teasing, he tried not to let their words get the best of him and continued to pursue his passion for singing. It’s safe to say, there’s at least one time he has his stutter under control: whenever he’s singing.

When he heard The Voice: Australia was having auditions, Craig decided to try out — and we’re sure glad he did! During the blind audition, this young man truly conquers all with his rendition of “Broken Vow” by Josh Groban. He delivers the performance of his life and completely wows the judges. His voice is flawless as he hits every note.

During the stunning performance, his mom and brother were in the backstage viewing room cheering him on. At 3:55, Craig’s younger brother is seen crying tears of joy as he celebrates his brother’s triumph. It’s such a touching moment. This mom raised two amazing kids.

On this fateful day, a wild stallion named Champ and his family graze along the bank of the Salt River in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest. Minutes later, a second band of wild horses arrives at the opposite bank.

It doesn’t take long for Champ and his family to become interested in their new neighbors across the way. Intrigued, a few begin to cross the river.

Suddenly, the strong current forces the filly of the group to be swept downstream. For a moment, she even goes under.

Champ tries to grab the filly by the side of the neck, but is unable. The filly breaks from the group, struggling in the water.

Champ breaks from the group to go after her. He grabs her by the neck and gently helps her back to the band. He doesn’t let go until he knows she’s safe.

Shaken, the filly heads to her mother. With everything under control, Champ proceeds to cross the river and greets the stallions across the bank like they’re old friends.

Upon his return, Champ greets his family. The video says, “Like a scripted ending, to a fairytale story, three birds land on Champ and his mare.”

Wild horses are truly incredible, magnificent creatures. If you agree, please SHARE this heroic video with your friends on Facebook!

A New Zealand woman was minutes from her death when she was rescued from a living nightmare.

Police officers arrived at an Auckland wharf to find a BMW had rolled off the side of the road and was about 75% under water. Two good Samaritans were trying to hold the car above water while the driver frantically tried to escape.

The 64-year-old driver was completely distraught by the terrifying accident and feared she only had moments to live when local constables Paul Watts and Simon Russell appeared on the scene. The officers tried breaking the car’s windshield with their police batons and failed, so Officer Russell grabbed a large rock and was able to smash the car’s rear window.

The frantic woman was pulled to safety and taken to a hospital nearby. Meanwhile, police are trying to figure out what caused the nearly fatal accident.

When I was growing up, my family had a nightly tradition of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! while eating dinner. Even when I go home to visit now, my family will gather and compete to see who can solve the puzzles the fastest or get the highest Jeopardy score.

I’m still waiting for the day I can actually beat my dad, though we’re a pretty even match.

I think if either of us made it onto the show we’d do pretty well for ourselves. If we didn’t win, we’d still solve a puzzle or two, but we’re obviously no match for the contestant in the video below. I think he might be the smartest — or luckiest — contestant in the history of the show. He only needed one letter and suddenly, he’s solved the puzzle!

Host Pat Sajak’s expression changes from disbelief, to concern, to amazement in just a few seconds. Even the other contestants can’t be jealous or upset for too long; they’re just amazed.

    “Some pig.” “Terrific.” “Radiant.” “Humble.”

Those are the words Charlotte the spider writes in her web to describe Wilbur the pig in E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web, and I think Charlotte might say the same things about Amy the pig in the video below.

Amy has been taking obedience training classes with a bunch of dogs. No one was sure if it would be possible to train a pig in the same way, but the trainer took the risk.

Despite being the class’s underdog — underpig, I mean — she has risen to the occasion. Her trainer says that she’s actually one of the best pupils in the class.

Apparently, when Amy started, the other dogs looked at her like, “What kind of dog are you?” But now, Amy’s teaching these old dogs some new tricks.

I honestly didn’t know pigs were this smart! I’m not surprised that it’s motivated by food, but whatever works. I mean, getting my dog to learn how to sit was an achievement, let alone completing obstacle courses.

Riding a horse has always been on the top of my “bucket list.” The wind in your hair, the landscape rushing by, and the beautiful animal charging forward beneath you… It seems like a stunning experience!

That’s why this video is so amazing. Without ever sitting atop a horse, you can experience the next best thing — from the comfort of your couch, no less! This incredible footage truly makes you feel like you’re riding right along, leaping over the hurdles, charging through the water, and dashing across the green field. A few moments were so “real” they nearly took my breath away!

But horseback riding is not without danger, as you’ll soon see. It takes a lot of control, confidence, and bravery to guide such a magnificent animal. The shock in this footage is brief, but very real. But for most, it seems that the danger of horseback riding does not outweigh their passion for it. Nothing wonderful is without risk, right?

We all like to look good, but some beautifying tasks take longer than others. Making sure our clothes are nice and wrinkle-free is one of those tasks.

Most of the time we’re forced to break out the iron and ironing board, unless we want to shell out the money to have cleaners to care of our clothes. Even if your clothes are nice and smooth at the start of the day, chances are they’ll eventually become wrinkled at some point later on. So what do you do then? Do you really want to iron your shirt a second time? Do you change? It seems like a small thing, but for those of us who have to dress up for work or other reasons during the week, wrinkles can be more than annoying.

Thank goodness Kari Byron from YouTube’s Everyday Genius has an amazingly simple solution for getting your wrinkles out quick. All she does is set the dryer to the hottest setting, throws in the wrinkled item with three ice cubes, and runs the dryer for 15 minutes. That’s it! The steam from the melting ice gets the winkles out easily and quickly. No fuss, no muss!

With all this snow surrounding me, it’s a bit difficult to think about the warm breezes of spring and summer blowing through my hair, but I’m trying my best. I can’t wait until the snow is gone and I can head out to the backyard with a good book and relax in the hammock.

According to Wikipedia, the use of hammocks dates all the way back to the Native Americans in the 1600s. It’s unsurprising that, in the past few centuries, the design of this ultimate relaxation device hasn’t changed much at all. It works perfectly the way it is and, once you figure out how to get into one without falling out, the hammock is one of the most comfortable ways to catch a few Zs while enjoying the weather outside.

If you ask the cute pooch in the below video, he would surely agree. As he wanders into a room, he sees a green sling hanging across it. The black dog starts to sniff and push his nose into the sling, realizing that it’s actually a hammock.

Now, this dog clearly needs a good ciesta, so he does what any super chill dog would do: He climbs into the hammock like he’s a pro and curls up for a quick nap, even dropping his chin onto the side of the thing for some added leverage.

It’s adorable, but it’s also a great testament to just how clever some dogs are. This guy looks like he’s done this a hundred times before. He’s just so smooth!

Way to go, pooch. Enjoy your nap.

We’ve all probably seen videos of mama birds feeding their young. From the filmstrips and movies we watched in science class as kids to documentaries and nature shows, everyone has a pretty good understanding of how baby birds get their nourishment. But I’m here to tell you that you have never seen a mother bird feeding her baby like this before.

In this short clip from the film Secret Life of Trees, by nature filmmakers Saturnina and Artur Homan, you will see the most beautiful, mesmerizing moment between a mother hoopoe and its hungry baby. Filmed in super-slow-motion, the mother-baby food exchange becomes one of the most amazing things you’ve ever seen.

If you’re unfamiliar with the hoopoe, it’s an absolutely beautiful bird. Colorful (the hoopoes in this video are orange-brown with black stripes) and graceful with a spiky crown of feathers atop their heads, the hoopoe is found throughout Africa, Europe, and Asia. In fact, the hoopoe is actually the national bird of Israel, and it’s just an amazingly cool species.

Homan’s astonishing video gives us several different angles that show the mother hoopoe swooping in with what appears to be a grasshopper in her beak. Slowing down her flight, she sticks the grasshopper right into her baby’s beak before it’s quickly gobbled up as nourishment for its growing hoopoe body.

The slow motion aspect is what really turns this video into something special. Just being able to see the hoopoe’s flight in that kind of detail, as it whips its wings back and forth, all while keeping its head perfectly still, is something I’ve never seen before. It’s just breathtaking.

What an amazing thing to share between mother and baby, and what a cool way to see it all happen.

Now this is puppy love. Three-month-old tiger Hunter was born at The Farm Inn Wildlife Sanctuary in Pretoria, South Africa and quickly made an unusual friendship with a puppy. This inseparable duo will melt your heart and put the biggest smile on your face.

Hunter was rejected by his mother at birth. Fortunately, the baby tiger cub didn’t stay lonely for long. He quickly bonded with Chelsea the German pointer puppy, who belongs to one of the zoologists of the wildlife sanctuary.

These unlikely best friends take walks together every day. The pals even play fight, wrestle, and stalk one another through the grass. Their bond is truly incredible. Although this video might not be for the faint of heart, you can tell the puppy loves to roughhouse with the tiger. It’s important to note that the zookeepers are always keeping a watchful eye on the pair, even though these two companions just love playtime together.

Unfortunately, when Hunter reaches six months, the two will be separated for Chelsea’s safety. For now, however, the pals are having the time of their lives, playing and bonding!
